That's what Todd Kleperis and the team at WITT Energy do each day. These innovators bring research, knowledge, and expertise together to create patented products that are capable of generating electricity from various kinds of motions in land, sea, and the air. Todd spoke to us about his background and explains exactly what WITT is!
13 years ago Todd was working for a defense contractor on wave powered robotics in Asia. While there he began to think more about robotics and the need for sensor powers in really unique locations. In his hunt for solutions he came across WITT Energy, who had the device, but had yet to be commercialized. Flash forward to 2021, he sold his company and went back to find out more about WITT Energy.
Todd is now the EVP in charge of New Venture creation and found a massive market for vortex induced vibration in things like subsea sensors, underwater cables, UUV recharging and a host of defense applications. WITT is moving the ball forward with a MOD contract in the UK as well as a recent contract with the DOE in the USA.
WITT (whatever input to torsion transfer) isa small energy harvesting device (only 350mm in diameter) that reaps chaotic motion and turns it into usable power. Sealed in a container with no exposed external parts, a WITT uses two pendulums connected to a flywheel going to a generator. When moved, the pendulums swing causing the generator shaft to turn. Thus, electricity is produced.

And we highly suggest to do as Todd recommends, "I would check them out WITT or you may just miss the next generation in things that move to create power!"
