San Diego BlueTech Networking Event

  • Quantum Brewing 5375 Kearny Villa Road San Diego, CA, 92123 United States (map)

Join TMA BlueTech, MTS and IEEE for our monthly BlueTech Networking Meetup, hosted at our longtime community home, Quantum Brewing. This gathering brings together ocean innovators, engineers, founders, and collaborators for an evening where advanced science, real world application, and community converge.

Main Presentation of the Day:

RoboSub 2026: Building the Next Generation of Underwater Robotics

Fresh off their inaugural appearance at the internationally renowned RoboSub Competition, Teagan Darling and members of the Miramar College Engineering Club will share the story behind designing, building, and competing with their first Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV).

RoboSub challenges university teams from around the world to create autonomous underwater systems capable of completing increasingly complex underwater missions. It has become one of the premier proving grounds for both emerging technologies and the next generation of ocean engineers.

The Miramar team will discuss their first season—from ambitious engineering concepts and creative problem-solving to unexpected setbacks, valuable lessons learned, and the partnerships that helped bring their vehicle to life. Whether you're an engineer, student, employer, or simply curious about autonomous systems, you'll gain an inside look at what it takes to transform an idea into a functioning underwater robot.

In addition, Leverett Bezanson, Chair of the Marine Technology Society (MTS) Student Committee, will provide an update on MTS's latest internship program, highlighting the exciting projects students have undertaken and the expanding opportunities available for those pursuing careers in the Blue Economy.

Come discover how student-led innovation is helping develop the workforce, technologies, and collaborative spirit that will shape the future of ocean engineering.

About This Event

This monthly networking event is jointly hosted by the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) San Diego Chapter, TMA BlueTech, and the Marine Technology Society (MTS).

Following the presentations, enjoy plenty of time for networking and conversation with professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and ocean enthusiasts from across Southern California's Blue Economy.

Everyone is welcome—you do not need to be a member of IEEE, OES, TMA BlueTech, or MTS to attend.

We'll once again be gathering at Quantum Brewing, the science-themed brewery founded by a biochemist and longtime home of our BlueTech networking community.

No ticket is required. Please support our host by purchasing your own food and beverages during the evening. Quantum Brewing welcomes guests to bring food from nearby restaurants, so feel free to grab dinner on your way over.

Free registration helps us plan. Thank you in advance for RSVP.
