TMA Foundation

Our Mission

TMA Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of TMA BlueTech. We mobilize philanthropy to expand equitable access to high‑quality BlueTech careers, accelerate ocean resilience, and strengthen the innovation pipeline from classroom to career.

What we do

Fund scholarships, training seats, and apprenticeships that place students, veterans, and career‑changers into sustainable, well‑paid BlueTech jobs.

Underwrite public awareness and pathway programs that introduce communities to ocean careers and emerging maritime technologies.

Support evidence‑based pilots and partnerships that advance coastal resilience, decarbonization, and dual‑use maritime innovation.

TMAF focuses on outcomes: people trained, placed, and progressing in careers that support a thriving, secure, and sustainable Blue Economy.

Why Now

Southern California has all the ingredients for a world‑class Blue Economy—talent supply, training capacity, and employer demand—but lacks the dedicated bridge that connects them at scale. TMAF builds that bridge by funding the connective tissue:

scholarships, coordination, and awareness that move people from interest → training → employment.

Signature Initiative: The Blue Workforce Compact

A multi‑year, cross‑sector commitment to build and sustain a regional pipeline into BlueTech and maritime careers.

Through the Compact, TMAF

  • Finances access to training (scholarships, stipends, equipment) for students, veterans, and mid‑career reskilling.

  • Backs coordination among educators, training providers, and employers to align curricula with real job needs.

  • Funds outreach that raises awareness of blue‑career opportunities across diverse communities in San Diego, Los Angeles, and beyond.

  • Catalyzes matching capital by blending philanthropy with employer sponsorships and civic micro‑giving.

Near‑term priorities

  • Endow a full‑time Workforce Initiative Lead at TMA BlueTech to own strategy, partnerships, and outcomes.

  • Launch and scale community‑driven giving (e.g., micro‑donations, employer matches) to sustain scholarships.

  • Expand regional alignment with partners like AltaSea, StartBlue, and the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
