Overview

This mission is organized in partnership with the International Trade Administration of the United States Department of Commerce, and the United States Commercial Service. It is also part of TMA BlueTech’s Market Development Cooperator Program grant, which helps United States companies expand into international markets through supported, structured global trade opportunities.

Reduced Costs

Participants benefit from significant cost reduction. MDCP support typically lowers participation costs by approximately 45%, making this mission one of the most cost effective and high value avenues for United States firms seeking to explore Southeast Asia.

About the Mission

Singapore and Indonesia are rapidly expanding their maritime and blue economy sectors. Both countries are investing in port modernization, coastal resilience, clean maritime operations, marine autonomy, advanced sensing, and ocean intelligence. This creates major demand for United States technology, equipment, and services.

This mission provides direct access to these markets with the support of the United States Department of Commerce. Participants receive the Commercial Service’s Gold Key Service, which includes customized matchmaking, in person business appointments, and direct introductions to potential buyers and partners. This greatly increases the likelihood of successful market entry and trade outcomes.

The mission takes place during Singapore Maritime Week, the region’s largest maritime gathering and a global meeting point for shipping, innovation, and marine technology.

Who Should Join

This mission is well suited for United States companies and organizations working in the following areas:

  • Marine technology and autonomous systems

  • Port and harbor operations

  • Maritime security and dual use innovation

  • Coastal resilience and environmental monitoring

  • Ocean data and sensing

  • Clean maritime solutions and renewable energy

  • Surveying, mapping, and subsea technology

  • Infrastructure, engineering, and logistics

  • Investment and advisory services supporting the ocean economy

What Participants Gain

Commercial Service Gold Key matchmaking
The Gold Key Service arranges customized in person meetings with qualified buyers, distributors, project owners, port authorities, private sector partners, and government stakeholders. This is one of the most effective ways for United States exporters to open new markets and establish trade relationships.

MDCP supported cost reduction
Because this mission is part of TMA BlueTech’s Market Development Cooperator Program award, the cost for United States companies is significantly reduced. This lowers financial barriers and increases access to international trade exploration.

Focused market intelligence
Private briefings with the United States embassies in Singapore and Jakarta, along with regional commercial specialists, provide actionable insight on regulations, opportunities, procurement, energy transition priorities, and market trends.

On the ground engagement
Participants interact directly with maritime authorities, research centers, innovation hubs, energy companies, port operators, and blue economy institutions in both Singapore and Indonesia.

Singapore Maritime Week access
Engagement with international maritime leaders, innovators, investors, and port authorities during Singapore Maritime Week provides unparalleled networking and visibility.

Positioning for trade success
With the combined support of TMA BlueTech, the International Trade Administration, the Commercial Service, and the Gold Key program, companies enter new markets with a structured pathway, trusted contacts, and significantly higher chances of successful commercial outcomes.

Why Singapore and Indonesia

Singapore is one of the world’s most advanced maritime centers, leading in port technology, vessel automation, maritime AI, clean energy adoption, and global shipping innovation.

Indonesia is undergoing major investment in coastal development, fisheries modernization, port upgrades, marine environmental programs, and regional maritime security. Its geography and national priorities create strong demand for United States technology and solutions.

Together, these markets represent one of the most promising regions for United States marine technology exporters.

Testimonials

“TMA and ITA exceeded my expectations. We had a packed schedule meeting with companies and organizations before, at and after the Ocean Business trade show. You would be hard pressed to find a way to open as many doors in such a short amount of time.”

- Mark Gundersen, President and CEO, Marine Advanced Robotics

“As a young, small business, the programs offered by the USMTEI, TMA and ITA provided us with an invaluable opportunity to reach new companies and customers. We highly recommend this program”

- Rusty Jehangir, Founder, Blue Robotics

“Participation in the Sea Japan Trade mission was an excellent opportunity for Synthetik to explore new opportunities in a market that we have had limited prior exposure to. In particular, the GKS meetings that were held both at the Sea Japan show and afterward were extremely valuable in identifying potential partners with needs that align with Synthetik's capabilities. We are extremely grateful to the TMA Bluetech and US Commercial Services teams that facilitated an exceptionally well organized and streamlined event, given the complex logistics of participating in an international trade show. We look forward to continuing to grow the relationships we made in Japan, and being a part of more events in the future.”

- Josh Hatfield, Chief Product Officer, Synthetik Applied Technologies

"This mission was worthwhile for our company largely because of the tailored experiences set up by TMA Blue Tech and their affiliates. They made the Sea Japan Conference, as well as the rest of the trip to Japan, a very straightforward process. We would not have been able to participate in such an opportunity without their assistance."

- Shea Olson, Business Strategy and Government Funds Manager, SafetySpect

“RCAM Technologies' participation in TMA BlueTech's Sea Japan 2024 trade mission was immensely beneficial for our company. It provided us with invaluable exposure to international markets and opened up numerous opportunities for networking and strategic partnerships. The organization of the event was impeccable, allowing us to effectively showcase our products and connect with key stakeholders in our industry. This experience has deepened our market understanding and positively influenced our strategic planning. We are grateful for the chance to be part of such a well-executed mission and are optimistic about the results it will yield for our future growth. We look forward to attending future trade missions to other countries with TMA BlueTech if the opportunity arises.”

- Mason Bell, Product Manager, RCAM Technologies

“The mission to Sea Japan has been a spectacular success for us. We were back in November and are planning to start more formal joint ventures there in February.”

- Robert Huber, Co-Founder and Tech Lead, Radmantis
