San Diego BlueTech Networking Event

  • Quantum Brewing 5375 Kearny Villa Road San Diego, CA, 92123 United States (map)

Join TMA BlueTech for a special edition of our monthly BlueTech Networking Meetup, hosted at our longtime community home, Quantum Brewing. This gathering brings together ocean innovators, engineers, founders, and collaborators for an evening where advanced science, real world application, and community converge.

Featured Presentation: Bilgenur Baloğlu

TMA BlueTech is pleased to welcome Bilgenur Baloğlu as our main presenter this month. Bilgenur Baloğlu, PhD has detected species from water samples in Singapore reservoirs, built bioinformatics pipelines for EPA international biomonitoring, consulted on aquatic infrastructure response for Singapore’s Public Utilities Board, co-founded an environmental DNA company that reads biodiversity from the air, taught machine learning at USC Keck School of Medicine and University of San Diego, received a Congressional recognition, and presented at Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s StartBlue Demo Day.

She is not easy to categorize. That’s the point.

She now leads Clarity & Movement, an advisory practice for senior operators, founders, and investors who need to make high-stakes decisions before the data is ready — which is always.

In this session Bilgenur will introduce the participants with Reading the Water: What Environmental DNA Taught Me About Making Decisions in the Dark.

The data is never clean. The season ends anyway.

Bilgenur Baloğlu spent years detecting species from water samples in Singapore reservoirs, building biomonitoring pipelines for the EPA, and sequencing environmental DNA in conditions where a failed replicate could cost months. Science taught her something most business frameworks don’t: good decisions happen before the evidence is complete — or not at all.

She took that lesson and co-founded Wild Genomics, an environmental DNA company that captured biodiversity signals from the air itself — combining atmospheric sampling hardware with molecular biology and bioinformatics pipelines. Then she watched what happened when the data got messy in a different way — with people and governance.

Now she works with founders, investors, and senior operators to build what she calls structured judgment: the ability to move precisely when the signal is weak.

Join us for her 20 minutes presentation where Bilgenur show you the through-line from a freshwater reservoir in Singapore to a boardroom decision that couldn’t wait, and why the skill is the same.
