CHEERS OCEANEERS! | Ocean Energy to Embodied Intelligence: The Future of Autonomous Systems

Join TMA BlueTech, MTS and IEEE for our monthly BlueTech Networking Meetup, hosted at our longtime community home, Quantum Brewing. This gathering brings together ocean innovators, engineers, founders, and collaborators for an evening where advanced science, real world application, and community converge.

Main Presentation of the Day:

We're excited to welcome Rowdy Malchow II of Blue Lotus Energy and Perspective Intelligence as our featured presenter for Cheers Oceaneers!

Blue Lotus Energy has been a valued TMA BlueTech member since 2023, and we're pleased to showcase Rowdy's work at the intersection of renewable ocean energy, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

In his presentation, "Ocean Energy to Embodied Intelligence: The Future of Autonomous Systems," Rowdy will explore the evolution of autonomous technology, from harvesting renewable energy at sea to developing intelligent humanoid robots capable of performing real-world tasks.

He'll introduce two innovative ventures:

  • Blue Lotus Energy: Developing compact wave energy converters designed to provide renewable power for ocean sensors, maritime monitoring equipment, and other offshore systems.

  • Perspective Intelligence: Advancing embodied AI by training humanoid robots through human demonstration, enabling robots to learn and perform practical tasks in real-world environments.

The presentation will feature a live demonstration of humanoid robots, giving attendees a firsthand look at emerging robotics capabilities and their potential applications across maritime and industrial environments.

Most importantly, the presentation will serve as a starting point for conversation with the broader maritime technology community about renewable energy, autonomous systems, embodied intelligence, and the opportunities these technologies present for the future of ocean operations.

About Blue Lotus Energy and Perspective Intelligence

Blue Lotus Energy develops compact wave energy conversion technologies designed to harness renewable ocean energy and provide power for maritime sensors and offshore systems. Its work addresses the challenge of powering equipment deployed in remote ocean environments.

Perspective Intelligence is Rowdy's latest venture, focused on developing intelligent humanoid robots through embodied AI and human demonstration. The company is exploring how robots can learn practical skills and operate in complex, real-world environments.

About This Event

This monthly networking event is jointly hosted by the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) San Diego Chapter, TMA BlueTech, and the Marine Technology Society (MTS).

Following the presentations, enjoy plenty of time for networking and conversation with professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and ocean enthusiasts from across Southern California's Blue Economy.

Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member of IEEE, OES, TMA BlueTech, or MTS to attend.

We'll once again be gathering at Quantum Brewing, the science-themed brewery founded by a biochemist and longtime home of our BlueTech networking community.

No ticket is required. Please support our host by purchasing your own food and beverages during the evening. Quantum Brewing welcomes guests to bring food from nearby restaurants, so feel free to grab dinner on your way over.

Free registration helps us plan. Thank you in advance for your RSVP.
